CRICKET PROTEIN DOG TREATS

Environmentally Friendly, Chirpin' Good!

Chloe's Treats was started with the mission of creating a healthy and nutritious treat that we could give to our dog Chloe throughout her life. Chloe loves the taste of these treats so much that we named them after her! We love that she gets not only a great source of protein but also something environmentally sustainable and rich in fiber and nutrients. It started as an experiment baking with cricket protein but soon it became a labor of love when our friends asked for treats for their own dogs. At Chloe’s you can be assured that your pet is as much a part of our family as they are of yours.

Our Ingredients

Cricket Protein

By starting each recipe with cricket protein, we're able to create a protein first dog treat that contains all essential amino acids as well as being rich in fiber, calcium, iron, B-vitamins, and of course protein. Crickets are also a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids.

Yellow Pea Flour

Yellow pea flour is rich in two of the energy-yielding nutrients: protein and carbohydrates as well as vitamin B-1 (Thiamin), phosphorus, potassium, and fiber.

Flaxseed

Flaxseed is a great source of fiber and Omega-3 fatty acids.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil metabolizes efficiently to provide fuel and energy and improves digestion and nutrient absorption. It has anti-bacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties and improves skin and coat. It also helps increase HDL (good) cholesterol.

Garbanzo Bean Flour

Garbanzo beans are a naturally gluten-free source of fiber and protein. It is also a good source of folate, vitamin B-6, iron, magnesium, and potassium.

Tapioca Starch

Tapioca is a gluten-free starch alternative that is a healthy source of carbohydrates and low in cholesterol and unhealthy fats.

Peanut Butter

A personal favorite of Chloe's and fan favorite of many dogs, our all-natural peanut butter can be a great energy booster. It is fiber-rich and packed with nutrients such as protein, healthy fats, potassium, antioxidants, magnesium, and vitamin E. Plus our peanut butter only contains one ingredient, peanuts.

Banana

Bananas are a great source of potassium, magnesium, and vitamin C and help to maintain healthy blood pressure.

Sweet Potato

Sweet potatoes are a great source of fiber, vitamin C, beta carotene and manganese. They are rich in antioxidants and aid in a balanced source of energy and blood sugar levels.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon helps to regulate blood sugar and boosts the body’s ability to use insulin to improve blood glucose levels which is important for dogs at risk for diabetes. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties.

Honey

Outside of the fact that dogs love the sweet taste of honey, it contains a variety of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, B-Complex, C, D, E and K, Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Silicon, Sulfur, Potassium, Manganese, Copper, and Iodine. Honey is a natural energizer and has a number of health benefits.

Apple

Apples make a great low-protein, high fiber, antioxidant snack for dogs. They are a good source of fiber, Vitamin A, and C.

Turmeric

Turmeric has natural anti-inflammatory properties and could help with arthritis. It has been associated with lowering LDL levels for pets which supports heart and liver health.

Love

We started baking out of our love for Chloe. We wanted to provide her with a healthy treat option full of protein and micronutrients. We continue to bake all our treats with love from our kitchen to your home.

Why Crickets?

While it is just gaining traction in the US, edible insects are not a new concept throughout the world. We chose crickets as the base of our product because of their exceptional nutrition profile. Crickets are a good source of protein and healthy fats, and provide micronutrients such as iron, calcium, and B-Vitamins. As a complete protein source they contain all the essential amino acids.

We also love the sustainability story of crickets. Crickets are one of the most sustainable sources of protein producing less greenhouse gases and requiring minimal water, feed, and space. With all the nutrition and environmental benefits, crickets just make sense. They are a sustainable protein source that is good for you, good for the environment, and good for your pet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do your crickets come from?

Our crickets come from North American cricket farms we work with that specifically raise crickets for human consumption. They are fed a Certified-Organic grain-based diet and filtered water. To produce the cricket protein, the farms clean the crickets then dry them to remove the moisture. Finally they are milled into fine powder. The result is a slightly nutty-tasting protein powder that is high in protein and micronutrients.

Do you use whole crickets?

While technically yes you are getting the whole cricket, you would never know your pet was eating cricket if it was not listed as an ingredient.

Why do you list shellfish allergies if your product contains crickets?

Crickets are not shellfish and therefore do not need to be labeled as a shellfish allergen. However, people or pets who are allergic to shellfish may have a sensitivity to crickets because they are distantly related, and so it is the closest common allergen.

Where do you source your ingredients?

We currently source all of our ingredients including our crickets from North America. We only include all-natural and healthy ingredients in our products.

Are your treats paleo?

While we would love for our treats to fit all diets, unfortunately due to the use of legumes such as peanuts and garbonzo beans our current treats are not part of a strict paleo diet. We strive to provide a healthy blend of protein for our dog friends. We are considering paleo lines for future products. Email us if you want to find out more.

What is the right serving size for my dog?

Serving sizes can vary based on your dog’s size, exercise level, and health condition. Feed as a treat, snack, or reward.

What is the shelf life of your treats?

As an all-natural product that uses no preservatives or byproducts we currently have a shelf life of 18 months for our products.
